SMALL BUSINESS WEBSITES

Why Your Small Business Needs a Website—and Who Keeps It Running

Before someone calls your business or walks through your door, they may look you up online. What will they find? Can they see what you offer, where you work, and how to contact you?

A good website gives those questions a clear answer. Whether you run a real estate firm, a flight school, or another local business, it gives prospective customers a place to learn about you and take the next step.

You don’t need a huge website to make a useful first impression

A small business can start with a few well-organized pages: what you do, who you help, and how to get in touch. Clear information and an easy experience on a phone matter more than adding pages just to make the site bigger.

At Cove & Code, Essentials website builds range from $550 to $800 for one to three pages. That includes custom mobile-friendly design, a standard contact or quote form, placement of your supplied content, basic search setup, pre-launch checks, and four revision rounds. The exact price depends on the agreed scope; copywriting and custom features are quoted separately.

Your business changes. Your website should keep up

Imagine your real estate firm adds two brokers. Their supplied photos and bios need to go on your existing team page. Or you have an upcoming event and need to replace an old announcement with the new details.

Those updates help visitors see what is happening in your business right now. They also take time—time you may prefer to spend serving customers or finding your next client.

If you have the skills and time to manage a website, doing it yourself can make sense. If it keeps slipping down your to-do list, ongoing support gives you someone to turn to.

What are you paying for after launch?

The build fee covers creating your website. Hosting keeps it accessible online. Ongoing care covers the agreed upkeep and an allowance for changes after launch. Cove & Code offers hosting and care for websites I build.

Website Care is $59 per month. It includes hosting and SSL, backups, uptime monitoring, applicable security and software updates, and 30 minutes of agreed content edits each month. Email support and weekend emergency downtime support are also included.

Website Care Plus is $99 per month—$40 more. It includes everything in Care, with 90 minutes total for agreed content and eligible SEO updates, priority scheduling, a monthly performance summary when analytics is connected, and a quarterly basic technical SEO review.

You can submit update requests through your client portal as needs come up throughout the month. Work is reviewed and scheduled within your plan’s allowance. Unused editing time does not roll over, and priority scheduling does not guarantee same-day service. New pages, blog writing, redesigns, and new features need a separate approved quote.

Support without giving up ownership

After a long Friday, discovering a website problem is the last thing you want to deal with. Having someone familiar with your site gives you a place to ask for help. Care includes weekend emergency downtime support, with response expectations set out in your service agreement.

After full payment, you own your custom website and agreed deliverables. Choosing care means I host and manage it on your behalf; canceling care does not take away that ownership. Third-party licenses retain their own terms.

Start with what your business actually needs

You don’t need the biggest website or the highest care plan to get started. You need a website that explains your business clearly and a practical plan for keeping it useful.

If you’re in Lincolnton, Hickory, Lake Norman, or the greater Charlotte area, tell me about your business and what you want your website to do. Request a quote through Cove & Code, and we can work out the right starting point together.
